Quadrilaterals and Tinker Toys:
Quadrilaterals, Rhombus, Square, Rectangle, Kite, Parallelogram, Trapezoid
This is lesson will take roughly 120-240 minutes and involves students learning about the different types of quadrilaterals with Tinker Toys. Why memorize several boring properties that don't mean anything to the students when they can see an accurate visualization of the different figures themselves, and make their own conclusions as to whether or not opposite angles of a parallelogram are congruent.

Function Machine:
Function, Equation, Domain,Range, Slope, Linear
This is lesson will take roughly 45-60 minutes and involves students learning what a function is and what coordinante pairs are as well. It is a visual demonstration, rather than a purely numerical or symbolic approach to teaching function. This assignment is appropriate for Algebra or Pre Algebra students.

Estimating Percentages:
Fractions, Decimals, Percentage, Estimation, Conversion
This is a two part assignment which takes roughly 45-60 minutes plus a small homework assignment to go along with it. This lesson allows students to calculate percentages from decimals, and estimate percentages from decimals. It helps them build stronger number sense, and also helps demystify fractions in general.

Foil and Unfoil Practice:
Multiplication and separation of binomials
This is a fun little activity which will take roughly 45-60 minutes to complete, in which students have an opportunity to play a short game with one another which then transforms into a novel way to practice foiling and unfoiling. This activity can be easily modified to work with any mathematical principle that goes two ways, like factoring and distributing or integrals and derivatives.

Board Game Review:
Any mathematical concept you want
Board Game Review is a new and fun way to review with your students. Having tried
various methods of review this has proven to have kept the most students
engaged, and attentive during the whole class and wishing they had more time when
the bell rings. Here is the Applet that accompanies the activity.

Jumping Jacks Graph:
Graphing, Data Collection, Analyzing Data, Reading Graphs
Students do jumping jacks for 2 minutes and as a group collect the data for their teammates. After all the data is collected the students then graph their own individual data and answer a few questions about their graphs and data. Estimated length for completion 45-60 minutes. Grade Level: 7th - 9th. Subject Area: Elementary Mathematic through Algebra. Here is the Assignment to that accompanies the lesson.

Equivalent Fractions:
Fractions, Equivalences, Reduction, and Simplification
Students work to determine whether or not certain fractions are equivalent and then explain why or why not. The assignment takes a very visual approach to teaching equivalences. Estimated length for completion 45-60 minutes. Grade Level: 6th - 8th. Subject Area: Elementary Mathematics and Pre-Algebra. Here is the Assignment to that accompanies the lesson.

Teacher Report Card:
Self Reflection
A teaching idea of how you can reflect upon your teaching through student assessment of your performance in the classroom. As the name implies you have students write you a report card at the end of every term or semester, letting you know what you can improve or what you are doing well. This assessment process takes about 5 minutes in class.

Shopping Spree:
Percentages, Taxes, Addition with Decimals, Subtraction with Decimals, Rounding
Students try to spend exactly $1000 given a list of items they can buy and a given tax rate to add to the price of the purchased items. Estimated length for completion 45-60 minutes. Grade Level: 6th -7th. Subject Area: Elementary Mathematic through Pre-Algebra. Here is the Question in printable format.
